Last weekend was the 6th and last round of the Dutch Nationals held at the AMCA track in Apeldoorn. The championship of the National Class was still undecided, so this was going to be an exciting race between the XRAY teammates Daan Jacobs and Maarten van Lierop; these two drivers got the first two spots in the championship with only a 13-point benefit for Maarten.
In the Nomac Class the championship was already decided by XRAY driver Ricardo van Dam.
When we arrived at the AMCA track the weather was great for the time of the year in Holland (15°C) so we were able to drive the whole day in very good conditions to try to find the best set-up.
Again it was clear that Team XRAY were the ones to beat, and because all drivers were driving very well this was going to be the weekend where the NT1 would dominate the last round of the nationals.
Sunday qualifications were held under the good weather conditions and in the National class it was Daan Jacobs who set the best time in all three qualification runs, followed by teammate Maarten van Lierop. |

In the Nomac Class was it XRAY driver Jurmin Etnel who was the fastest on the track with lap times of 0.3sec faster than the rest of the field. Jurmin did a great job and set the top time followed by Ricardo Hofmeijer and XRAY girl Ingeborg Gommers.

With only 13 points between the two XRAY teammates, Maarten would only need to take 2nd place behind Daan Jacobs to win the championship. So the only thing Daan could do was win this race and hope that Maarten would not be right behind him!
After the start it was Daan, Maarten, and Sander (3rd) who had a clear and safe start. At the beginning Sander overtook Maarten but only for 2 laps, then Maarten got by him into 2nd place again. A few laps later Daan Jacobs hit a curb and his body got stuck between his tire so now Maarten was able to overtake and hold his place until the first pitstop where Daan made a quick stop and got back into the lead again. Daan and Maarten made a big gap in front of the rest of the field and after 11 minutes they lapped everyone. This was now the time for Maarten to play it safe, as he only had to finish in 2nd behind Daan so he drove the rest of the race behind the number three car and had to let Daan go. Daan Jacobs did what he had to do and drove a real fast and clean race, finishing 2 laps ahead of Maarten, followed by Niels Pourchez and Pedro Rombouts.
This was a real good result for Team XRAY who now got the first two spots in the last round and also in the Championship.

| Nomac Class final: |

In the Nomac class, the champion was already Ricarco van Dam, but the rest of the spots were still open for a few drivers. After the start it was XRAY driver Jurmin Etnel who held his place and built up a big gap with the rest of the field. The 2nd and 3rd positions were under contention by a couple of drivers, but bad luck struck Peter Verkerk and Ricardo Hofmeijer and they had to quit the race early. This allowed Champion XRAY driver Ricardo van Dam and XRAY girl Ingeborg Gommers to claim the last podium spots followed by Rick Meijeren and XRAY driver Bernd Kleinstuber.

We as Team XRAY Netherlands (Daan Jacobs and Maarten van Lierop) looked back on a great Dutch National Championship season that had some bad luck but overall was a lot of good times. One of the best things to see was how all XRAY drivers formed a great team together and worked very well with each other and that translated into good results in the National Class and the Nomac Class final standings. It looks very promising for next year!
